In December 2019, the Austrian company BRAUN Maschinenfabrik GmbH received an order from Italy for one high-performance chop-stroke dry traverse abrasive cut-off machine, type TS 16 W with associated equipment. The customer, a private owned Ital­ian integrated steel producer of Stainless Steels and Speciality Steel Alloys, has already experience with the excellency of several equipment supplied by BRAUN within the last years.

With this investment that serves an existing forging line by replacing a shear for inter­mediate hot cutting of billets and blooms before the next process steps, the customer responds to the increasing quality requirements from their customers. Special features of BRAUN’s high-performance abrasive cut-off machine are its high throughput capac­ity, the outstanding quality of the cut ends and its reliability in continuous operation.

The abrasive cut-off machine and the necessary handling devices will be manufactured at BRAUN in Vöcklabruck, Austria. Before its delivery end of September 2020, it will still be extensively tested.

Installation on site will take place during a short standstill of the forging line in October 2020. Commissioning and performance test of the installed facility shall be completed by the beginning of December 2020.
