In Seibersdorf, a system for the repacking of barrels with radioactive rubbish has been successfully put into operation. The system is intended to uncover the radioactive rubbish, which is poured into the barrels, and prepares repacking in the new barrels. The concrete core in the barrels is uncovered throught saws and a concrete shaving machine. Next, the contents in the new barrels are packaged and safely stored. The process is completely dry so that no additional waste accrues.
